Bugle Call

Welcome to Bugle Call, the voice of the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area. This new blog seeks to showcase the rich history of the area, highlight the wide range of experiences available for visitors—not just Civil War battlefields and historic sites but also opportunities for recreation, dining, and shopping—and bring to light lesser-known stories of Civil War Maryland. Posts by scholars, living historians, academics, and museum professionals from across the Heritage Area will provide readers with an in-depth view of the many fascinating historical sites, commemorations, research, and experiences to be found in the Heart of the Civil War.
