Civil War Sisters Stories

Ongoing Opportunities

  • July 27 at 12:45 PM

Sisters in Emmitsburg and in congregations throughout the country were called to serve during the Civil War. Their charitable efforts brought healing and solace to the wounded on both the battlefields and in hospitals. Discover how the Sisters provided hope in the mist of suffering and despair during the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton's Civil War Sisters Stories. Sisters from various congregations will be on-site to discuss what sisters in the 1860s experienced during the Civil War. On July 27, the talk will be led by Sister Judy Metz, SC, who has extensively researched the sisters’ Civil War history. The event is free.
