Women Soldiers in the Civil War

  • June 23 & 24

There are hundreds of documented cases of women who fought disguised as men during the Civil War, including several instances during the 1862 Battle of South Mountain. Maryland Park Service Historic Interpreters Tracey McIntire and Audrey Scanlan-Teller will discuss and share documentation of some of the more fascinating women and what motivated them to fight alongside men. Program presented both days 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
