Sharpsburg Founder's Day Celebration- Antietam: The Aftermath

As part of the Sharpsburg Founder's Day Celebration, Ted Alexander the Historian (retired) of Antietam National Battlefield will present his talk "Antietam: The Aftermath" on the events of September 18, 1862, the day after the battle. The actual combat was finished but for the survivors the battle would continue for days, weeks, months and years. This talk will focus on how the bloodiest day in American history impacted soldiers and civilians in Sharpsburg and beyond. Alexander will focus on medical care, the physical and economic impact of the battle on the civilian population, post battle military activity in the region and more.
