Amanda Johnston

With more than 15 years as a nonprofit professional, Amanda Johnston serves as the Executive Director of the Fort Detrick Alliance. In her career, Amanda has served as the assistant director at the Historical Society of Frederick County, the marketing manager at the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, as marketing director of BlackRock Center for the Arts, and public relations specialist at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown. Amanda has been instrumental in tourism marketing in the region and served for four years on the Tourism Council of Frederick County’s marketing and group sales committees. As a writer and journalist, Amanda has had articles published in Frederick Magazine, Find It Frederick magazine, Eastern Home and Travel, the Baltimore Sun, and other regional publications. She is active in the Frederick business community and currently serves on the board of directors for Celebrate Frederick and is a member of the marketing and fundraising committees. Amanda holds a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Maryland College Park and is a May 2018 candidate for her Masters in Management with a specialization in Marketing from University of Maryland University College.
